Trains to Yatton - Station Details and further Information on Yatton Train Services
Yatton train station serves the village of Yatton in North Somerset, England. It is 12 miles west of Bristol Temple Meads train station on the Bristol to Taunton Line. The station is managed and all trains are operated by First Great Western. The basic train service comprises two trains in each direction each hour. One service shuttles between Bristol Parkway and Weston-super-Mare, calling at most stations via Bristol Temple Meads; the second is the faster Cardiff Central to Taunton service. A few peak period services to and from London Paddington call at Yatton, but due to the length of the High Speed Trains used, only the front carriages stop on the downside platform and only the rear on the upside platform, in both cases that means the First Class section is mostly off the platform.
The Booking Office is staffed from 06.30 to 12.30 Monday to Friday, 07.00 to 12.00 Saturdays, closed on Sundays except for special events such as T4 on the Beach. There is a selfservice ticket machine opposite the Hotel. Information screens are installed, one being inside the waiting room and visible from the platform. Smoking is not allowed beyond the platform entrances. Regular bus services to Congresbury, Claverham and Cleeve depart from near the Market Inn on the main road which crosses the line by Fisher's Bridge at the east end of the station.
The area on both sides of the station where the bay platforms were are now used as car parks. Brunel's main station building was refurbished in 2006 and is still in use for selling tickets. There are plans to convert the redundant westbound building into a cafe, and the hotel is still operating as a pub. An active group of "friends" have renovated the station gardens and are hoping that the roof of the footbridge that links the two platforms will soon be restored.
The former Cheddar Valley branch line is now the Strawberry Line railway walkand cycleway. This starts from the far end of the downside/south car park and is popular with dog-walkers also. |
