Trains to Tame Bridge Parkway - Station Details and further Information on Tame Bridge Parkway Train Services
Tame Bridge Parkway is a train station in the north of the borough of Sandwell, in the West Midlands, England, close to the boundary with Walsall. The station is operated by London Midland and also served by Wrexham and Shropshire. It is situated on the Walsall Line 8.7 miles north of Birmingham New Street, part of the former Grand Junction Railway, opened in 1837.
London Midland - Local and regional services are operated by London Midland. During Monday to Saturday daytimes, in each direction there are four trains an hour serving Tame Bridge Parkway, between Birmingham and Walsall. Services to Birmingham New Street call either at all stations or are designated as "semi-fast" and call only at Birmingham New Street.
Services in the other direction are for Walsall and stations to Rugeley Trent Valley, with two trains an hour terminating at the former and two going to the latter (although some Rugeley trains skip certain stations north of Walsall). During Monday to Saturday evenings and all day on Sundays, there are two trains per hour to Birmingham (one calls all stations and one runs non-stop). Nothbound there are two trains per hour to Walsall (one calling all stations and one running non-stop) with one train per hour continuing to Rugeley Trent Valley.
Wrexham & Shropshire - On 28 April 2008, open access operator Wrexham and Shropshire started running a daily service between London Marylebone and Wrexham. There are five trains a day in each direction on weekdays, with four on Saturdays and three on Sundays.
Although Wrexham and Shropshire trains also serve Wolverhampton, local travel between Tame Bridge Parkway and Wolverhampton is not permitted. This is an indirect consequence of a 'moderation of competition' clause in the Virgin Trains franchise agreement, which prohibits other operators from running services between London and Wolverhampton. As a result passengers cannot board southbound Wrexham and Shropshire trains at Wolverhampton - or alight from northbound trains there. |
