Trains to St Annes-On-The-Sea - Station Details and further Information on St Annes-On-The-Sea Train Services
St Annes-on-the-Sea train station serves the town of St Annes-on-Sea (part of the conurbation of Lytham St Annes) in Lancashire, England. It is located on the Blackpool South to Preston railway line 3¼ miles south-southeast of Blackpool South.
Monday to Saturdays there is generally an hourly service westbound to Blackpool South and eastbound to Preston and beyond (to Blackburn and Colne). The one daily service to Manchester Piccadilly that formerly ran from here was withdrawn at the end of the 2007-08 timetable.
On Sundays there is also an hourly service in each direction from mid-morning between March and the beginning of November. No service during the winter months.
The station opened in 1876, one year after the resort of St Annes had started to be built. It lost its Up Side platform in 1986 (although this is still visible) , when the line was reduced to single track and most of the station was razed to the ground. A tiny building was erected to house a ticket office and is staffed on a part-time basis. It is currently served by the Northern Rail East Lancashire Line trains between Blackpool South and Colne. |
