Trains to New Southgate - Station Details and further Information on New Southgate Train Services

New Southgate train station is on the boundary of the London Borough of Barnet and the London Borough of Enfield in north London, and is in Travelcard Zone 4. The station, and all trains serving it, has been operated by First Capital Connect since 2006. It was opened in 1850 by the Great Northern Railway, under the name Colney Hatch & Southgate, and there were several successive name changes involving various combinations of "Colney Hatch", "Southgate", "New Southgate" or "Friern Barnet" before 1871, when the present name stuck.

Subsequently, the station came under the London and North Eastern Railway after "Grouping" in 1923, before British Rail took over upon nationalisation in 1948. WAGN operated the service from 1997 to 2006.

The service from the station runs to Moorgate on weekdays until about 9.30pm, and into London Kings Cross after 9.30pm Mondays to Fridays and all day on Saturdays and Sundays. Normally the service uses class 313 EMUs, as these are the only units cleared to Moorgate, although on weekends sometimes class 317 EMUs are used instead. The typical off-peak service is 3 trains per hour to Moorgate, and 3 trains per hour to Welwyn Garden City.
