Trains to Settle - Station Details and further Information on Settle Train Services
Settle train station serves the town of Settle in North Yorkshire, England. It is operated by Northern Rail who provide all passenger train services. It is situated at the southern end of the Settle-Carlisle Line 41.5 miles north of Leeds. Monday to Saturdays there is generally a two-hourly service southbound to Leeds (seven trains a day in total Mon-Fri, eight Saturdays only) and northbound to Carlisle. The last train of the day from Leeds runs only as far as Ribblehead. Sundays there are usually three trains in each direction.
During the summer there is a service from Carlisle via Settle and Clitheroe to Preston (two northbound trains in the morning, returning south in the afternoon).
The station dates from May 1876 (when it was opened along with the line) and is staffed on a part-time basis. There are a range of facilities available (including waiting room, toilets and a souvenir shop) in the main buildings on the southbound platform. The platforms are linked by a footbridge that was formerly located at Guiseley until electrification of the Wharfedale line in 1994 made it redundant. It was then dismantled and re-erected here to allow the old foot crossing at the north end of the station to be taken out of regular use. |
