Ore train station serves Ore in East Sussex, England. It is on the Marshlink Line, and train services are provided by Southern, with a few peak services operated by Southeastern.
Ore station is the terminus for electric East Coastway services. Trains run regularly to Hastings and beyond. Direct trains to Ashford International only call here occasionally, requiring doubling back via Hastings at other times. There is an hourly service to London Victoria via Haywards Heath. There is also an hourly stopping service to Brighton via Eastbourne and peak Southeastern trains to/from London via Battle. Ore station was once adjoined to the north by a depot for electric trains but this closed in the 1980s.
Today, there are two platforms linked by a footbridge. Ore Stn has been unstaffed since a booking office fire in the late 1980s, and it has no other facilities. There is no road access, and this station is not recommended for people with physical disabilities.
Trains terminating and re-starting at this station run forward into a turnaround siding which runs adjacent to the Marshlink line as far as Ore Tunnel. Ore is also the start of the single track section on the Marshlink line, which runs through to Appledore |
