Trains to Newark Castle - Station Details and further Information on Newark Castle Train Services
Newark Castle train station serves the town of Newark in Nottinghamshire, England. It was built in 1846 for the Midland Railway in the Italianate style. It is on the Nottingham to Lincoln Line. Its name comes from the nearby castle, which is a few hundred yards/metres away on the south bank of the River Trent.
Newark-on-Trent is a fairly small market town, 25 miles east of Nottingham. Newark has two train stations. Newark Castle, is operated by East Midlands Trains, and is located near the town centre. It links Newark to Nottingham, Lincoln and other cities in central England.
The other station called Newark North Gate is located at the east of the town and links this town to most of the cities on the East Coast Main Line. North Gate has a separate service to Lincoln to allow interchange with trains to London. However, even taking interchanges into account, Castle train station is the busier station. Trains run hourly towards Lincoln eastbound, and Leicester westbound. East Midlands Trains also run a daily return train from Lincoln to London St Pancras International Monday to Friday. |
