Trains to Meadowhall - Station Details and further Information on Meadowhall Train Services
Meadowhall Interchange to the north of Sheffield, South Yorkshire, England is a train station on the Midland Main Line, a Sheffield Supertram stop, and bus station. It is close to junction 34 on the M1, and serves Meadowhall Shopping Centre. There is direct access to the shopping centre via a covered footbridge over the River Don.
The train station has four platforms: platforms 3 and 4 for the Penistone and Hallam Lines, from Sheffield to Huddersfield and Leeds respectively via Barnsley, and platforms 1 and 2 for the lines towards Rotherham Central and Doncaster.
The station has a good service level on all routes apart from that towards York (the Dearne Valley line). TransPennine Express services between Cleethorpes and Manchester Airport call hourly each way, as do the Sheffield to Hull and Nottingham to Leeds trains operated by Northern Rail. There is an additional Sheffield to Leeds via Barnsley fast service each way every hour during the day on weekdays & Saturdays. The station used to be served a single train to and from London St Pancras each weekday, but this was withdrawn in September 2008.
Northern also provide a half-hourly local service to Doncaster (and beyond) via Rotherham Central and hourly local links with Leeds via Barnsley & via Wakefield Westgate, to Huddersfield and to Lincoln Central via Sheffield and Retford. There are also two daily trains to York via Moorthorpe. These all combine to provide a frequent service to Sheffield (up to eight trains per hour for much of the day), which is further augmented by the Yellow line tram route.
Most of the listed routes run every two hours on Sundays, although there is a more frequent service to Doncaster (hourly local and half-hourly express), Cleethorpes and Hull (both hourly) and only a limited service to and from Lincoln. There are also two trains to York - one in the afternoon and a second in the evening. |
