Trains to Dalston Kingsland - Station Details and further Information on Dalston Kingsland Train Services
Dalston Kingsland station is on the North London Line. It is in Dalston, on the western side of Kingsland High Street (A10) opposite Ridley Road market. The station and all trains serving it are operated by London Overground. It is in Travelcard Zone 2.
It opened on 16 May 1983. An earlier 'Kingsland' station on the same site opened in 1850 and closed in 1865 when the City Extension of the North London Railway to Broad Street opened with a triangular junction which joined the existing tracks east of and west of that station. Dalston Junction station on the extension then served the district until closure of the Broad Street line in 1986, Dalston Junction is due to reopen in 2010 on the London Overground East London Line extension, with interchange permitted between it and Dalston Kingsland. The western curve of the junction will be relaid for the East London Line going to Highbury & Islington station; the site of the eastern curve is covered by the car park of Kingsland shopping centre.
At Dalston Kingsland station the North London Line is powered by both 25kV overhead AC and 750V third-rail DC systems and is the change-over point between current collection by pantographs and by shoes for passenger trains which are mainly dual-system Class 313 electric multiple units (EMUs).
Typical off-peak frequency at the station is four trains per hour westbound to Richmond via Highbury & Islington, Camden Road and Willesden Junction, and four trains per hour eastbound to Stratford but service intervals vary from about seven minutes during rush-hours to 30 minutes on Sundays. |
