Trains to Chestfield & Swalecliffe - Station Details and further Information on Train Services

Chestfield & Swalecliffe railway station, is a UK train station on the Chatham Main Line in north Kent, and serves Chestfield and Swalecliffe, villages which are now part of the built-up area between Whitstable and Herne Bay. Train services are provided by Southeastern. The typical off-peak service from the station is one train per hour to London Victoria via the Medway Towns and Bromley South, and one train per hour to Ramsgate via Margate.

The station was originally opened as "Swalecliffe Halt" halt on 6 July 1930 by Southern Railway. It was latter renamed "Chestfield & Swalecliffe Halt", shortened to Chestfield in 1987 and reverted back to "Chestfield & Swalecliffe" in 1989. Although the train station itself actually lies in the village of Swalecliffe the station still refers to Chestfield for people exploring the area, without prior knowledge of the location of Chestfield.

There are waiting shelters and an Up side booking office, which is open for a few hours each morning; the platforms are built of rails and sleepers. The "down" ticket office was burnt down by vandals in 1991.
