Trains to Barming - Station Details and further Information on Barming Train Services
Barming train station serves Barming in Kent. The station and all the trains serving it are operated by Southeastern. Despite its name, the station is located in Tonbridge and Malling Borough. The platforms are of 6-car length only, despite a number of services being formed from 8 cars.
The typical off-peak service from the station is one train per hour to Maidstone East and one train per hour to London Victoria. From Monday 23 March 2009, the limited peak hours service to/from Blackfriars on Mondays to Fridays is extended across Central London via the 'Thameslink' route, serving City Thameslink, Farringdon, St Pancras International etc en route to St Albans/Luton/Bedford. This is believed to be the first-ever cross-London service operated from this station.
The original station building remains on the down (Country-bound) platform, with a substantial wooden shelter on the up (London-bound) platform. The ticket office is manned for limited hours during the morning peak period on Mondays to Fridays; at other times a PERTIS 'permit to travel' machine, also located on the down platform, suffices.
A concrete footbridge, in very poor condition, spans the tracks here, linking the platforms. This footbridge is of a standard pre-fabrictaed design built at the Southern Railway's concrete factory at Exmouth Junction, east of Exeter.
The up platform does not have any passenger information matrix displays or a tannoy. The down platform has one passenger information matrix display that provides information relating to train running times for both platforms. |
