Althorpe train station serves the village of Althorpe in North Lincolnshire. The station is also very close to the villages of Keadby and Gunness. Stopping services from Sheffield to Scunthorpe call at the station. These stopping services occasionally terminate at Doncaster, although during daytimes, certain services continue after Sheffield through to Lincoln Central. Most services are provided by Northern Rail who operate the station. Occasional services by TransPennine Express also call at this station.

The station has very limited facilities. There is a shelter on each platform, with a telephone and a help point for contact with Customer Services and British Transport Police on Platform 1 (Eastbound). Platform 2 (Westbound) is only accessible by a footbridge which has 50 steps.

The station is on the west bank of the River Trent, to the west of the combined road-and-rail King George V Bridge, which was a lifting bridge until the late 1950's.

Services call here between approximately 0600 and 2315 Monday to Friday, and 0600 to 2215 Saturday on an hourly frequency each way. No services call at this station on Sundays.
