Ticket Types - Advance, Off-Peak or Anytime
Advance fares are Single (one-way) tickets offering fantastic value on many UK train routes. By booking an advance ticket you can save up to 80% on your rail fare. You must book in advance and fares are subject to availability. The earlier you book the better the deal. You can mix and match Advance fares for a return journey. MORE INFORMATION
Off-Peak train fares are cheaper tickets for passengers travelling on trains during less busy times. These times of day or days of the week is dependant on route. Sometimes there is more than one Off-Peak fare for a particular route, when this is the case the cheaper fare with more restrictions will be called Super Off-Peak. You can buy Off-Peak tickets any time prior to your journey. Restrictions on the tickets vary depending on route. MORE INFORMATION
If you are unaware of your exact travel plans and need full flexibility on when you travel you will require an Anytime Train Ticket. You can buy Anytime tickets any time prior to travel and you can use your ticket to travel on any train at any time on the route you have purchased your ticket for.
