City Night Line Train Services

City Night Line AG was a joint project/creation undertaken by the Deutsche Bahn German Federal Railways, originally a joint venture with the Austrian Federal Railways and the Swiss Federal Railways, City Night Line is now solely operated by Deutsche Bahn German Federal Railways. City Night Line's first train departed on 28 May 1995.

City Night Line Trains are divided into sitting carriages, couchettes, sleeping car and restaurant car. City Night Line makes use of double decker sleeping cars, which are converted specially for the company.

Some of the most popular destinations offered by City Night Line include Hamburg, Zurich, Munich, Paris, Amsterdam and Venice. With City Night Line passengers arrive fresh and relaxed in the city centre meaning no expensive transfers associated with flights.

City Night Line Services

All City Night Line services have a team of employees offering friendly and professional service. Whether you are travelling in sleeper, couchette or seated accommodation, the service team sees to your wellbeing during the journey.

Dining and refreshments are a highlight onboard City Night Line ferry services. Most trains run with an on-board restaurant offering a fine selection of international cuisine and a fantastic choice of drinks. On City Night Line that run without an on-board restaurant you will receive light snacks and beverages served direct to you from the service team.

What's more, for breakfast, if you stay in a sleeper car, breakfast is included and will be brought to your compartment. For passengers in couchettes or seats, breakfast can be ordered by any of the service staff. The service doesn't end there. If you wish to be woken at a certain time, simply inform a member of the team and they will wake you at your request.

Accommodation onboard comes in 3 options;

Sleeper - Compartment (A/C) with duvet and pillow, private bathroom-sink, toiletries and towels are provided, breakfast is included. The Deluxe-compartment comes with a private shower/WC.
Couchette - Up to 4 resp. 6 bunk-berth. Pillows, blankets and sheets are provided. Washing facilities and toilets in each car. A women-only compartment is provided on every train.
Seated Coach - Comfortable reclining seat in an air-conditioned open-saloon car or compartments with 6 seats. Washing facilities and toilets in each car.
