TGV Artésia is a service branding and joint venture between France and Italy. Trains are staffed by Trenitalia in Italy and SNCF in France. The bar/restaurant service is operated by Cremonini. As of 2007, routes include service between Paris Gare de Lyon and Paris-Bercy to Turin, Milan, Venice, Florence, Rome, and intermediate cities. Service to Milan operates via both Dijon and Lyon/Turin, while Venice, Florence, and Rome are only served through Dijon. Trains traveling through Dijon are night trains; those traveling through Lyon and Turin are day trains. See below for the current day and night Artesia route maps.
The Artesia route is currently under development. With an estimated completion date of 2018, three new LGV tunnels through the Alps are in the process of being engineered and built and will decrease the travel time between Lyon and Turin.

TGV Artesia Onboard Facilities
By Night Train
In the sleeping cars, one, two or three passengers can travel with full peace of mind: Each cabin has a washbasin, a razor socket, a complimentary toiletry kit, and the comfort of a real bed. Attendants are at your service in each car: they set up the beds, collect your passport and ticket, and handle customs procedures for you. In the evening, you are given a bottle of water. When you wake up, at the time of your choice the attendant will return your documents and, in your cabin, serve you a hot drink, croissant, fruit juice, and the day's newspapers.
Fully air conditioned, the couchette cars offer 4-berth or 6-berth couchettes. The attendant collects your passport and ticket for customs, purposes and and awakes you before the train's arrival at your destination. Your documents are returned in the morning. The attendant is also in charge of setting up the couchettes.
Each Artesia Train offers a dining car with both bar and restaurant facilities.
By Day Train
In both 1st and 2nd class, the TGV offers the comfort of reclining seats with headrests and footrests
You can also choose among available spaces when you reserve. A choice of seating arrangements is also available for business and meeting use. A choice of refreshments is also available in the dining cart.
The rental of the DVD and player (10€) or just a DVD (5€) is offered on TGVs. Playstation Portable consoles are also available for hire. |
