Transeuropa Ferries Ferry MV Larkspur

The MV Larkspur is a freight and passenger ferry which is owned and operated by Transeuropa Ferries operating on the route between Ramsgate and Ostend. The MV Larkspur was launched for Gedser-Travemünde Ruten as the Gedser in 1976. In 1986 Gedser was sold to Sally Line for use on the Ramsgate Dunkirk route and renamed Viking 2. In 1988 the vessel was sold to Johnson Line (Silja Line partner) and renamed again, this time to Sally Sky but remained on the same route.

In 1997 Sally Sky was renamed Eurotraveller and moved to the Ramsgate Ostend service for Sally Line. However this identity was short lived, as Sally Line ceased trading in 1998. In 1999 Eurotraveller was first leased to, and then sold to Transeuropa Ferries, remaining on the same route and renamed Larkspur.

MF Larkspur was originally built in 1976 with a large upgrade in 1990. Larkspar can hold up to 325 cars and up to 800 passengers. When crossing Larkspur travels at a speed of 18.5 kn. Larkspur was built at Schichau-Unterweser, Bremerhaven in Germany. The vessel, with it's long history, still continues to offer an efficiaent reliable service between Ramsgate in the South East of England and Ostend in Belgium.
