The Scottish Viking is built to Italian flag legislation but was transferred to the UK flag when it arrived in Scotland. Scottish Viking operates on a dedicated route between Rosyth, Scotland and Zeebrugge in Belgium. The route is a vital transport link for Scotland and is the only ferry connection between Scotland and Europe. Norfolkline Scottish Viking - Further Ferry Information and Vessel Description

Dutch ferry operator Norfolkline took on the Rosyth to Zeebrugge service after previous operator of the route, Superfast Ferries, decided to stop operating the route last September. This popular route was said to have generated £3.5m of tourism expenditure in Scotland in the 6 years in which it operated. In starting the new route Norfolkline worked closely with the Scottish Government, the port associations, local councils and the Scottish tourist industry in it's planning for the new route. Predictions indicate that expected to up to 1.4 million lorry miles will be removed from Scotland's roads each year. Scottish Viking can hold up to 489 passengers in 107 spacious cabins and 57 Pullman reclining seats.
