Frederikshavn Port Ferry Overview
Frederikshavn small city in in Denmark's Nordjylland on the northeast coast of the Jutland peninsul. Its name translates to "Frederik's harbour". It was originally named Fladstrand. Frederikshavn is currently beginning a transition to make it the first medium-sized city in the world to rely exclusively on renewable energy resources for power, including transportation and cars. The process is expected to be completed by 2015.
There are 6 harbours in the town, 4 of which are dedicated to pleasure boating. The main harbour from which all ferry services are offered is from Frederikshavn harbour.
Frederikshavn is the most important and the largest ferry port between the European continent and the Scandinavian Peninsula and consequently maintains a high frequency of ferry traffic with up to 15 daily departures to Gothenburg in Sweden and Oslo in Norway. Both ferry services are offered from leading European ferry operator, Stena Line. Crossings to Oslo take around 8 hours 30 minutes whilst the shorter journey to Gothenburg in 3 hours and 20 minutes.
