Celtic Link Ferry Diplomat

The Diplomat is primarily a freight ferry, but also offers passenger services on it's route between Rosslare in Ireland to Cherbourg in France. The Diplomat started life back in 1978 as one of 11 vessels in the Stena Searunner series built by Hyundai in Ulsan, South Korea. The vessel spent her early life in service with Finnlines and Atlanticargo. Previous names of what is now the Diplomat include Stena Transporter, Finnrose, Baltic Ferry, Pride of Suffolk and European Diplomat.

Celtic Link Diplomat - Further Ferry Information and Vessel Description

Part of the Celtic Link Ferry Fleet Diplomat

Diplomat joined P&O in 1980 sailing between Felixstowe and Europoort as the Baltic Ferry. Following service with the Falklands Task Force, she was rebuilt to carry 600 passengers from Felixstowe and Zeebrugge, and renamed the Pride of Suffolk in 1992. The extra passenger accommodation was removed when the Zeebrugge route closed in 1995 and she returned to the Europort service as a freight ship until 2001, when she was renamed the European Diplomat and moved to the Irish Sea. In 2001 she took over P&O's Dublin-Liverpool run, and was switched to Rosslare for a trice weekly service to Cherbourg. She was brought by Celtic Link Ferries in 2004 to continue the route, and renamed Diplomat.

Onboard passengers can enjoy a choice of 2 - 5 bedded cabins all with en suite facilities. All cabins are relatively spacious, and well above sea level.
